  1. Omg... old news

  2. Yeah...thats messed up! That girl was cute, she had a great voice, thats all that should have mattered!

  3. it wasn't,t a woman its was a little girl who sang at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics 2008, it was then discovered that in fact the girl did not sing it but actually mimed the song and the song was sung by another child who had a good voice but was not deemed attractive enough to sing infront of the audience

  4. I did hear that.

  5. Thats how it goes i suppose

  6. totally

  7. yeh then i said "whats the point thay all look the frickin same anyway"

  8. yes. the little girl who sang at opening ceremonies was lip syncing. that was on the news. supposedly, the real singer was not "pretty" enough for the chinese. just the start of the cheating in my opinion.

  9. It was 2 little girls. One could sing beautifully but looked like a normal little girl with crooked teeth and one was a cute little thing that couldn't sing.

So sad that the world is all about what you look like instead of what you can do.

Take a look at the makeup section in here and you'll see what the world is becoming - questions like "Urgent! What nail varnish colour matches my lipstick?" written by 14 year olds just make me puke.

  10. I heard, and it's upsetting, but not surprising. And for those people who say "it's old news" as if it's irrelevant; it's not. Are your memories like goldfish? If something isn't new news, then it doesn't matter? That's sad.

And I think the real singer should have sang. How sad for her.

  11. I wonder how that will affect the poor little girl when she's growing up and told she isn't pretty enough? I thought she looked pretty and cute.

I didn't realise China had stooped to our sick superficial level.

  12. Are these people complaining for real??? Take a sec to think here. I would be honored if I was asked to sing for the Olympics. She is set for life! What do you mean she'll grow up regretting this?? She'll grow up regretting saying NO if she's dumb enough to do that. Imagine putting on your resume that you sang at the Olympics. American Idol? s***w that! Who cares if they showed her face or not? Both the little girls will be famous because of their performance. If they asked your child to sing for the Olympics but wont show her face, how many parents would turn down that once in a life time experience? People say oh I would never let me daughter do that if they wont use her face.... YAH RIGHT!! This is the Olympics not your 4th grade school play. You cant compare the two. If they ask me to performce in the Olympics but they wont use my face, I'll tell them BE THERE TOMORROW! Besides, the not good looking girl said it was an honor to sing and I think she is right. We need to stop making this into a big issue. Who cares?! China is not the only country that cares about their image. Heck, if we're hating on China for caring about their image, then EVERY GIRL OUT THERE ARE FREAKING CHEATERS! Why you gotta wear makeup? You ain't that pretty! Why you gotta wear high heels? You arent that tall! Why are you wearing wonder bra?!? Your b***s not that big! Gosh, people whine about anything these days.

  13. You mean "lip-synching".  Mime is a completely different thing.  And the people involved were little girls, not women.

Yes, originally one girl with a great voice was selected to sing the main song, but at the last minute they decided she wasn't cute enough (she isn't ugly, she just isn't as irresistably cute as the other girl).  So they recorded the one girl's voice and had the the cute girl li-synch it.

It's not unusual for huge, live performances to utilize a little production illusion.  The guy with the torch wasn't really flying around the stadium - it's reasonable to assume he's on wires even if you can't see them.  Not all the fireworks you saw were live, either - for safety's sake, some of them had to be computer-generated for the TV audience.  The music was pre-recorded; so it's not unreasonable if some of the voices are pre-recorded too.

It's wrong to deliberately lie about who's singing, but if they had simply given the real singer credit somewhere in the written program or TV credits, that would have been fine.

  14. Omg did you hear how old this is?

  15. Don't you know that many more capable women in Britain were dumped aside for prettier ones for roles in TV, commercials, and in movies, etc.  All media, in every country, just want to put a pretty face on.  Between Jolie Angelina and another ugly woman, which do you prefer to see?  Come on, be realistic!  Otherwise, you will see many ugly women starring in lots of movies - but the world is cruel, and they are not given a chance.

Or if you are not blessed with looks, then you have to act clownish like Mr Beans.

  16. It wasn't a "woman" who sang the song originally, it was a little girl of a similar age. She was deemed not pretty enough to represent China so the pretty girl was chosen to mime.  To be honest they are both lucky to be alive and we should be worrying about China's 1 child policy rather than who sings a song.

The Chinese Government only allows 1 child per family and rural families in particular want sons not daughters. Girl babies are often aborted late in pregnancy (even up to when they are due to be born) or abandoned soon after birth. Families can be fined up to a years wages for having a second baby.
