  1. Yes. And what do you mean, is it worth keeping? There aren't any cultures that still practice foot binding.

  2. Yeah, I've heard of it. Chinese people did it in the ancient times. They thought small feet were s**y. Also s**y on the way one the woman walks. I have heard that the main reason for doing it. So that the women will find it hard to walk, to get out of the house. If they are confined to their houses, they won't be able to commit adultery.

And, yes, i think the tradition is stupid.

  3. And how is this so very different to the current outbreak of cosmetic surgery? Footbinding was all about people deforming and ruining their bodies in the name of FASHION people!! Same as when women used to wear corsets that were such a weird shape it deformed their chests/ rib cages/ and pushed all of their child-bearing organs out of shape, so that they could have 12 inch waists. So what are we doing nowadays? All conforming to FASHION of course, exercising ourselves and starving outselves to death so that grown women can have the bodies of an eight year old, and getting rid of all the pubic hair so we look like pre-pubertal girls. What a sicko lot we are.

  4. Yes. It was outlawed in China early 20th century. Done for the benefit of men who thought a tiny deformed foot was s**y. Not done on THEIR feet, though, just the women's feet.

  5. Yes I know of it, and as far as I knew they don't do it anymore.

  6. Yes, I first heard and read about it in a book by Pearl S. Buck called The Good Earth that I read as a young girl.  I was horrified that people, meaning men, thought this was attractive.  Not too many months ago, I saw a show on the Discovery Channel of TLC about it.  All the women they were showing were older and could barely walk.  I believe this has been outlawed in China, where it was popular.  Type Chinese foot binding into your search engine and you will be able to read all about it and even photos of these poor women's mis-shapen feet.

  7. This went out way way back.  But as long as your interested, do a little research on what high heels can do to feet as well.

  8. ~~I think people are way too intelligent to ever go back to crippling themselves. It was a sad time in history, but I do not see it ever coming back.~~

  9. Yeah I know it all.

I am Chinese and this is a sorta tradition in China back to a very long time ago.

Well this is a culture thing and actually we should be glad that this custom won't be last forever. And no women in the China would like to do that again though.

  10. I  am  aware  of  it,  but  I'd  have  thought  it  would  have  abandoned  by  now.  Can't  believe  ppl.  still  do  that.  Gasp!
