Omg i'm gunna puke, why did they do that? ?

Ok, i was just going to give my hampsters food and they were eating one of the babys, the babys were eating a baby, idk why? but they had food i was giving them more, there was 7 babys now theres 6, so there deff eatting on of the babys, and the dads not in the cage. why would they eat it? maby it just died cuz i think it was the runt of the litter.

Hamsters will be cannabalistic if one of the babies has something wrong with it or there is a danger and the mother is trying to keep it from getting killed by something else. Hamsters don't think its wrong or sick, its just something they do.

my dads hamster ate all of her babies... ALIVE!

They'll eat the baby if it's died, or if there was something wrong with it.. or even if the mom thought it was in danger.

happend to my gerbils i had a litter and they are now 16 days old she had 5 and 1 died wen still pink dont no y she didnt eat it though she left it their anyway it may of just been the runt like u say a or i could have died onits own sos to hear that

my moma hamster eat them but thats becaause the pet store didnt take the brother out and they mated she killed all of them

I had some gerbils that ate all their babies.  Someone told me it was becasue they felt crowded in their cage.  If it was the runt, they ate it to get rid of it.  Survival of the fittest.  It's a hamster thing.
