^read it!^

in your opinion, do you think that the LHC should be switched on? do you think that this is fair, having scientists put our lives in danger without our say on it?

and last but not least, could you say anything, anything to calm me down?? i'm scared out of my mind and am having a nervous breakdown.

please help!

  1. if it helps, they could never be allowed to turn on something that would wipe out all life on earth, its not allowed. So if we were in real danger of being swallowed by a black whole, they would not be allowed to turn it on.

the first time i read the story i freaked out also, but my friends dad is  scientist and explained it all to me, there really is nothing to worry about.

  2. first off it's just a hypothesis and not an actually fact so you just need to calm down. if you read the article you would have seen the part where the micro- black wholes would go straight through the earth and not do anything.

  3. OMG This is the biggest load of BULLS**T I have EVER read. These so called "critics" couldn't even give a technical description of the LHC if they tried. Its like saying that a hydrogen bomb could start fusing hydrogen in the ocean and blow us all up...wait that doesn't happen and isn't a possibility... this collide will smash particles together to find out what will happen. The power required to form a black hole is immense. I was reading that to form a black hole, the planet Earth would need to be compressed to a diameter of about 70 kilometers (its currently 13,000 kilometers) in a few seconds. This collide just doesn't have that power, and even if it does form a black hole, it will be so incredibly small we won't be able to see it, and it will be so short lived that it won't have time to suck in anything, not even the oxygen in the air around it. And these "exotic particles" would again be so minute in numbers and so powerless they will vanish out of existence in a microsecond. We have nothing to fear except the idiots who keep making up these stories. If you REALLY want to know whats going to happen, read up about the experiment on the CERN website.

    Finally to calm you down:

Fear comes from ignorance. If you want to be comforted, go and read about the experiment from those who actually built the thing, and those who are actually going to use it. They ain't scientists because they are stupid and suicidal. They are a lot wiser and smarter than the "skeptics" and "critics" make us think they are.

  4. If you are really frightened, you are a bit paranoid and need to do something to occupy your mind.   You are more likely to be hit by a meteorite or killed by a car than killed by this collider.

  5. Even if small black holes do form, they won't last very long. In theory,... point is, when Gallileo built the telescope he was shunned, people thought the first atomic bomb would destroy the planet and look,...(okay bad example). point is, there will always be people terrified that there might actually be an experiment that disproves what they believe to be true, if you look into this a little further, you'll see that this is mainly a lot of hype created by religious fanatics. You have fallen victim to exactly what they hope,...create mass hysteria and shut down project under massive worldwide protest. Living in the technology age,(I assume you are young.) Aren't you thankful for all of the conveniences you have, your cellphone, the computer you used to write this with. Imagine if Gallileo had said, "Y'know, you guys are right, I'm not really sure we want to see what's out there." Or Einstein had said, " Atomic fission and fusion are too dangerous, it's not worth the risk." I'll bet at least a tenth of the electricity we use as a global commodity is nuclear-reactor produced. My answer,...calm down and embrace the opportunity to live history.

  6. omg dont freak out (iam) aneway if you knowware that thing is smash it then there we wont die (but u will go to jail ) or email t6he presdent or dosomtindfg im freaking out here aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa we are going to die aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... i love you people my last words

  7. The machine poses absolutely no hazard of any sort.

  8. No way! That is honestly one of the stupidest things that I have ever heard of. I'm sure that that would be offending to those that find this creation remarkable, but nothing like that is worth risking our lives. Earth will, eventually, end one day, but there is no need in making it do so earlier.

Please just calm down. I wouldn't necessarily think about it, because crazy things like this tend to blow over anyway.

This isn't the way that the world is intended to end, by a bunch of people who think that finding a third dimension in space is worth more than our lives.

ALSO: The risk far outweighs the gain. So what if there is another dimension if the world is gone? It doesn't make any logical sense.
