  1. Yes, some candies (mostly the chewy kind) contain animal fat.  Check the ingredients on the package and they have it listed.

  2. yep.

vegans dont have many candy options at all

    think peanut chews are ok

  3. that may be so, but i still like my gum + candy. it wont stop me!!

  4. They say Twix has animal fat in it..

  5. Some candies do contain gelatin like gummy bears, skittles, starbursts, and most jelly beans. There are, however, alot of candies that dont contain gelatin. Heres a list:

    Airheads taffy

    Blow Pops

    Brach's Cinnamon Hard Candy

    Charms lollipops

OH.. and just to let you know, gelatin is not animal fat. It is ground up bones, and connective tissue from cows and pigs..

  6. Nope.  It's worse than that.  Some candies are colored by crushed beetles.  Yes jello is boiled animal parts.

  7. Unfortunately, many types of candy contain an animal by-product called gelatin. Gelatin is extracted from the collagen inside animals' connective tissue.

Common examples of foods that contain gelatin are gelatin desserts, jelly, trifles, marshmallows, and confectioneries such as Peeps and gummy bears. Gelatin may be used as a stabilizer, thickener, or texturizer in foods such as ice cream, jams, yogurt, cream cheese, and margarine; it is used, as well, in fat-reduced foods to simulate the mouth feel of fat and to create volume without adding calories.

Basically, you have to read the labels of just about everything these days. Animal products have a sneaky way of finding their way into lots of everyday stuff.

  8. Omg!  Yes, it's sort of true.  Gelatin, which is made by boiling hides, connective tissue and bone, is the thickener in jello and lots of candies.  It's not "animal fat" but it is dead animal.  This is not new news.

BTW, lots of candy has animal fat in it.  Ever heard of MILK chocolate?  Well, milk has animal fat, right?

  9. Kimberlee, apparently bone char sugar filtering has not been used since the '50s, at least in Australia.

  10. Yes, gelatine is from animals..Maily pork but it can be beef.

Just read the ingredients, not all sweets have it in..

  11. A lot of candies also contain gelitian, which is boiled down bones, hooves and horns.

  12. yes mam, in some candy not all

  13. yes, vegetarians cannot eat jello because there is gelatin in it, which is ground up cattle bones

  14. oviously..

    mostly in gummy candies

  15. Watch out for killer gummy bears!

  16. yes....

look for 'gelatin' in the ingredients list

  17. YES IN A BUNCH OF THEM ------READ YOUR LABELS . YOU BEEN EATING IT ALL ALONG AND IT DIDN'T HURT YOU -----DOES THAT TELL YOU SOMETHING ?

  18. only in candy with gelitin (read the back and itll say it or not in the ingreadents)

    some candies are

    skittles

    gummy worms

    marshmellows

    starbursts

    gummy bears

    twinkies

    and so on

sometimes you can find candies similar to the ones with gelitin that dont have it in them

(most marshmellow fluff... some generic brand twinkies... sour patch kids... and so on)

    hope this helps

  19. yes certain things are

    but not all of them

  20. It's true.

It's called gelatin (or Kosher Gelatin), and it can be found in several candies. Ex: Skittle, Starburst, Gummy Bears, Yogurt, etc.

It is only found in gushy like candy.

Also watch out for Carmine, which is bug juice used to turn candy a reddish, orangish color.

The only candy I know of that contains this is Nerds and Nerds Rope (which also contains gelatin).

Swedish Fish (a type of gummy fish) do not contain these ingredients, but they taste nothing like gummy bears. Laffy Taffy and Airheads are both safe. And so are Mike & Ikes. I think Sugar Babies and Sugar Daddies are safe, but if you're vegan, they do contain milk.

All I can say is to watch out mushy gushy foods and you should be safe!

  21. yup some candies do...like bubble gum...the chewy types.

  22. oh my i will never look at candy the same!!!!!

  23. Yes, if it has gelatine in it - animal fat.

  24. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You believe everything you hear??? Did you know that sugar is filtered through BONE CHAR???
