My fish is breathing very heavily and it seems like its suffering. The side of its belly is popping out and often goes belly up so I almost thought i was dead. I don't know what to do and why this is happening and how the fish is sick and what the disease is. Please help! I researched a bit and people said that the fish could die from this. When it swims its lower body usually floats up and it seems to have a hard time staying down.

  1. Your fish seems to have swim bladder disease. which is a disease. freshwater fish are prone to. alot of fish tend to die from this. BUT!! this doesnt mean yours will =] below i sent you some links for treatment. hope your goldie gets better =]

  2. The fish most likely has swim bladder disease, the swim bladder is an organ in the fish that keeps it afloat. Try getting some frozen peas, putting them in the microwave for a couple of seconds, taking off their shell, and feeding it to the fish. Also, the tank is too small for a goldfish let alone another fish. Take the fish out of the tank if it is picking on the goldfish. Also, water changes every month are really bad, try a water change every week.

  3. put 4 frozen peas in the tank the let off a chemical that cures this problem (which is swim bladder disease.) xx

  4. he has swim bladder get mosketo dont leave it even though its not in pain but if yhuu do that it will die

  5. So we can better aid you: what kind of fish do you have, what kind of tank is he in, what are your rituals for cleaning, feeding, where is he located? (In a window, on a shelf, etc.)

Is the water cloudy, have you recently refreshed it, have there been any other changes in his life, and are there any other symptoms at all?

    EDIT:

For future reference, you'll want to refresh your water a bit more often. Not all at once - take out about 10% every week and replace it with conditioned fresh water.

He's got an infection that's messing with his buoyancy. Crush up some early sweet peas and feed them to him. When he eats them, all shall be well.

How it exactly works - I couldn't tell you, but it's an old remedy that always seems to work. Good luck!
