Omg my hermitt crab isnt moving

it will pinch but not move!!! its making me upset cause i got it on my birthday 2 days ago

hermit crabs are nocturnal, so most of their activity will take place at night. it might be at the point where it's getting too big for its shell - do you have bigger shells in its habitat for it to move in to? they aren't the most active of critters in the first place, I wouldn't be terribly concerned about the lack of movement

It's ok. leave it alone. Your hermit crab could be molting. When hermit crabs grow, their skin doesn't stretch like ours, they have to shed their exoskeleton. They can become very inactive and fragile during this time.

It could also be the transition to it's new home,

Leave it alone for a few days, just giving it food and water, it will come around.
