  1. chop up worms for it.

  2. DONT, DONT give it an water at all. You will make it drown, literally.

You need to go to the petstore and get some formula. Formula for all birds. Get one cup and fill it with 1 cup of formula and one cup of warm water( The little cup that came with formula). Mix it well and use a syringe to feed it. Dont do too much at a time or it may regergitate. DONT give it water. It will choke. There is the right amount of water in the formula needed. Dont feed it worms. They have bacteria that could hurt them, only mom can break it down. When they are fledgling which it sounds like it to me they can eat watermelon, mealworms(HEADS cut off or they will eat its insides), bananas, veggies, and seeds(wild bird seed). Unless it cant hopp or sit on your finger or have any feathers you can feed him formula and he other foods listed. If he is pecking at stuff when you hold it then he doesnt need syringe. Only a bird cup.

Well it sounds to me that its a fledgling. It needs a cage, perches, and feed/ water cups. The cage can be for a cockatiel, thats a fine sixe for it. Cut up all the foods listed and place them in the food dich and sprinkle seeds on the bottom of the cage and mealworms(With heads cut off) on the bottom, it teaches them how to foriege. You can even add a mirror. It keeps them intertained. Make sure that you keep the cage cleam with newspaper on the botom. The bird will be more happier. Place the cage near a window to calm him down as well.

When he can fly you can release him outside. As long as he can fly. He may come to you for food though. You could even keep him if you would like but get a bigger cage for him.

  3. call the aspca near you

    they know what to do

    they are trained proffesionals

tell them that you want to keep the bird afterwards

but call them asap not kidding

  4. go to the PETSORE and tell the people that work there your problem. they should help you out!!!

  5. First of all you broke the law by cutting down a tree with an active nest in it..all birds, their nests and parts are protected by the Migratory Bird Treay Act.  This is why you should NEVER trim during the bird breeding season..you have the entire rest of the year to do this.  This is what you can do.  You can place the baby bird in a basket or pail with handle, and add grass, twigs etc. for warmth.  Tie the basket up to another tree or scrub as close as possible to the original nest location.  The parents may come back looking for their nest and if they can hear their chicks begging calls they be able to find it and continue caring for it.  You can watch from afar (if you are too close the adults will not come as you woudl be considered a predator) CONTINUALLY to see if the parents are coming to feed. Visits can be quick and infrequent..so don't miss them.   If you see NO activity near the basket within the next hour, you can then check on it occassionally for the next couple hours to look for the adults.  After that, there is a pretty good chance the parents are not able to find this new "nest", and you would need to get this bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Look here for one near you:

In the future, please have your parents refrain from trimming during the breeding season, and if you MUST trim..check the tree or scrub for nests before doing so.

  6. First of all take a deep breath and relax. Second do not give water to a baby bird as it can aspirate and die almost in a instance. What kind of bird is it? If you think that the mother and father bird are still in area which they probably are you can make a makeshift nest out of coolwhip bowl lined with tissues and put holes in bottom for drainage. You can put the fake nest with the baby in it as close as possible to the place it was. the parent birds will recognize its cries and it will the parents cries. Hide for a while and see what happens. If they do not come back the first thing you need to do is warm the bird. Do this by putting it in makeshift nest and then in a box because these little things move around and you dont want it falling. Then you need to put a heating pad under box or nest set on low. Warm it good before feeding it. A cold and dehydrated bird without featthers will look red and be unactive. Then to feed you need to get handfeeding formula  from pet store and a syringe. Can also use popsicle stick. If unable to get any handfeeding formula then use cat or dog food soaked in water until soft. Then blot water off and mush it up until like applesauce. when the baby gapes you need to put in his throat not just his mouth. Babies are fed every 20-- 30 mins from light until dark. Dont feed at night unless critical. You can also get mealworms at petstore and cut in half and feed the little critter. Dont worry about water as they get their hydration from the food they eat. CAn use earthworms chopped up but I would go with mealworms. The best thing you can do is try to get it back with parent birds. You also can call a vet who can recommend a wildlife rehabber in your area and they can take the bird at no charge and raise it properly until it can be released back into the wild. Good luck and thanks for caring and trying. .
