Certain games allow it but some don't even come with the multiplayer mode...

As long as you downloaded the appropriate patch(needed to play originals on the 360), and have gold membership, you should be fine.

Oh, and you'd need to know if the company still hosts the game to be played on live.

yes but not all  old xbox games even work on 360

plus  if u got any sport games  from ea dont  think  its gonna be online because ea is noobs and cheep snaks they close  there servers on games when there out of date

yes you can but only sertten ganes. like some of my favorites to play online with the 360 are halo 2. and. and on that i play more often is conker llive and reloded.  the games that are will work on the 360 but they have to be on this list (source space)
