On A Landline what does BABYCALL do?

I have a binatone house phone and in the menu it has got this option called babycall , what is it and what does it do?

its a ( baby ) room monitor!!

its not just for the Baby, many ppl use it to kinda spy on whats going on in different room of there houses!!

on my phones softkey, I use Menu>>>Room Monitor>>>Room1....2.....3. etc. as many extension you have in the house.....you can hear everything that going on in the room....
