On Amtrak trains are the roomette beds big enough for a parent & child to sleep in together?

Or will my 2 yo really need a separate bed?

  1. Depends on the physical size of both persons.   Think small single bed.


  2. They really are too narrow for a parent and child. I find them narrow with just me in them. But remember a roomette has two beds (upper and lower) so you could take the top bunk and the kid the lower bunk.

  3. It can be done, but it will be tight.

    In a Superliner Roomette, the lower bed is 2'4" wide by 6'6" long.  The upper bed is 2' wide by 6'2" long.

    Take a tape measure and mark those dimensions with a bit of tape on your bed at home and try it.
