On Average, how much does it cost to get a weave? Easy to maintain?

I have a friend that has stick straight, thin, chin length hair. And she is thinking about getting a weave done.. How smart is this? Yes, she is white. Will her hair hold it well enough? Her thought is that she will let her hair grow longer while the weave is all on and then when her hair is a good length she'll take it off. But won't you be able to see where the weave started? Any help will do! thanks!

  1. Hmm.

I don't know what you mean by weave, I hope you mean extensions.

When I think of weave I think of the synthetic hair for black people - it ONLY works for black people.

    So, extensions it is.

If she plans on getting them done in a salon, it will get VERY expensive.

    First, she'll have to buy a weft - 100 - 300$

Then, she'll have to find a salon in which someone will either glue or sew the weft in, and that is another hundred or two.

If she'll willing to go through all that money, cool.

But, she can easily go and get a clip in set or glue them in herself for about 100-200$

You won't be able to see the tracks (weave or whatever) if it's done well, and it's not that hard to do it well.

  2. When you get extensions they braid a track (a place for the extensions to basically hook onto) Her hair will hold it well enough, as long as you get it done professionally it can last up to 4 months. You'll want to go back into the salon and have then take the extensions out and re-do it (because there is a lot of build-up that accumulates from washing, etc.) Once she has them in she can style the hair as if it was her natural hair! It's a great way to have long, beautiful hair without waiting for it to grow out!! Also, someone else mentioned that she can get clip-in or glue in that she can do herself (or have a friend do)....thats true, but I don't recommend the glue kind. The glue isn't supposed to touch your scalp, so your glueing the track (where the extensions hairs are tied together) onto your real hair and the glue begins to stop being adhesive after about 3 days and then you have to go through a LOT of pain and conditioner (using conditioner to get the glue out is the easiest way if your going to go this route because it helps the glue to slide right off) to get it out.

The clip-ins are great because you can take them out whenever you want and itch that d**n itch that you havent been able to get to!! lol

    Hope this helps, good luck!

  3. Your grammar is appalling. You didn't even ask a question properly.

This is ANSWERS.COM, in order to get an ANSWER, you must ask an intelligible QUESTION.

  4. From what I can tell weave is in fact believable.  I don't how they do it it seems some sew, some crochet, some glue, some hook, and on and on  I guess she will have to consult with a beautician to pick the way that is best for her hair, and to promote growth.  Oh and they braid it in too.  It looks very real though I don't wear it, but I can never tell who has it on when it is done properly, and they use real hair.
