  1. I had a full time housekeeper in Bangkok, and she got about 4500 baht per month.  She did have free board and room, so her compensation was likely upwards of about 8000 baht or so per month.

A Thai teacher would not get close to making 30,000 a month.  A foriegn teacher teaching in Thailand will make 15,000 to 45,000 a month at a government school, and could earn substantially more at a private or international school.

I would say to have someone come in several times a week to do this not more than 3000- 4000 baht.  I know some that earn that full time.  They usually come from upcountry and are not educated.

  2. Usually these days a Thai house maid gets pay between 4000-8500 a month depending on how long she works for the family, that's also included foods and board. It very much depends because usually a Thai will give a golden necklace worth about 5000 baht at the end of the year as well as a long holiday at Songkran festival too. But, these days you'll find less and less Thai who are willing to work as house maid. Most of the maid my friends employ are from Myanmar, or Karin.

  3. I agree with Spanky, I know people who pay 2,000 baht a week for full time housekeepers that do everything from cooking to taking care of the kids, but either a room in the house or a nearby apartment is usually provided. Karen and Nam Tok Erewhon's answers are also good, 100 baht an hour for part-time help is a good wage here.

  4. it varies widely -- recently heard of someone getting paid 100 thai baht/hour

  5. A teacher in Thailand gets about 30,000 baht per month.

A poor Thai family will need about 6,000-10,000 baht a month to survive

A day laborer gets about 200 baht per day.

A Pattaya Bar Girl gets about 1,000 per day.

You can hire a taxi driver for the day for about the same 1000 baht.

A girl giving a massage gets about 90 baht for an hour.

A worker at Mc Donalds gets about 55 baht an hour.

My wife earns between 150-300 per day in a beauty salon at our house. Of course she only does it to gab with the local ladies and keep busy

I think a maid would be happy with 100 baht an hour with a two hour minimum.  For you about $3 bucks and hour.

  6. my wife has a friend who I am sure is an excellent, housekeeper and cook - very honest - - she has two part time jobs - I think one pays her 8000 per month and the other 5000 - but alot of the salary is determined by location - - if in bkk, expect to pay more - unless you are providing a place to live - - upcountry 4000 a month full time would be ok - -

  7. I have a maid live in and we pay her 6,000 baht per month.

That's is low for Bangkok but I have a Thai wife and she will not pay expat rates.

Normal expat rates can be as much as 9000 to 12000 per month.

For several times per week your looking to pay anywhere between 200 to 500 baht per day
