Question:

On MICROSOFT OUTLOOK, when someone has "read receipts" set up how can I block it so they dont get one from me?

I dont want this person who has this set up know if I read the emails or not...how can I block it?

I set mine up, but everytime they read my emails, I dont get a Read Reciept, how is this blocked?

  1. Ok, ill give you instructions, i use outlook 2003, but it should not be too different in another versions...

    With Outlook open, go to Tools, Preferences, press the email options button, then press the follow up options, and finally, select the option Never send a response from the bottom of that window.

  2. Open Outlook help.  Type in

    read receipts

    The first option should be

    Change automatic response to read receipts

    That's the one you want.  You have a few choices.

    Whether you get a receipt or not depends on how THEY set THEIR email program up (or if their program even honors receipt requests - not all do).

  3. go to Tools > Options

    on the Prefernces tab, click E-Mail options.  You'll then see a button for Tracking Options.  Click it and you can then turn off the receipt stuff from being processed.
