Any recommendations of areas to stay. I've heard Old San Juan, some area like Ca-something, and Isla something. (Terrible memory, I know!) I think they are all fairly close areas to eachother though.

Anyhow we want to be where beach is accessible in the day and some dancing is avail at night.

After a few days there we are off to the East.

  1. Bernadino has some good suggestions.. everyone else seems like they just copied their stuff from a website and have no experience with the island themselves.

From what you said you want to do, Isla Verde is the perfect spot for you.  Isla verde is a strip of tons of places to stay right along the beach.  The beach is private to the people who stay at the hotels along it and you can relax all day, parasail, jet ski, etc.

For night life, Old San Juan is only a 15 minute drive or cab ride away.  Plenty of clubs and things to do there.  or you can stay in Isla verde and hit some bars along the strip.

  2. I guess Carolina  is  the  city  where the airport is...

Isla guilligan  is  a very  secluded beach...isla  mona  is  a  federal camping site...  Culebra and Vieques are  separate little  island...vieques has the brigthest Bio Bay....

  3. Try the Isla Verde and Condado area if you want a basic tourism treatment. Go to the west coast for more secluded beaches, places like El Faro at Cabo Rojo, Boqueron and Isabela.

On the Esat Coast visit Palmas Del Mar in Humacao and go to La Villa De Los Pescadores to delight yourself with a fresh fish lunch prepared by the fisehermen.

  4. Visitors to the island flock to its pristine beaches, such as Luquillo Beach on the northeastern corner.

In addition to the main island, Puerto Rico includes several off-shore islands; Vieques, Culebra and Mona. Although uninhabited, Mona Island is a diver’s favorite because of its abundant marine life.

Aside from the glories of the beaches, Puerto Rico has much to offer travelers. San Juan, the capital city, has preserved the Spanish architectural influence in its older region.
