can you bring along scissors onboard?

i knit, so they would just be smaller kid-sized ones, but id still need them if i wanted to knit

Yes you can as they do not screen for things other than explosives and hazardous materials.  Plus they prohibit you bringing liquor on board.  just pack them in your luggage rather than your carry on.
