On OPK's is it normal to recieve a positive on only one day?

I have been on Clomid (100mg) for four cycles now. I began using OPK's to see if I was actually ovulating but my question is how accurate are these test? If I receive a positive result does that mean I am actually about to ovulate? I took an OPK on Thursday which was negative but then on Friday was an absolute positive. On Saturday and Sunday the positive line came out a lot lighter than Fridays which I assumed meant negative. So does that normally happen to where you only recieve a distinct positive on only one day and not so much the following days? Any insight is greatly appreciated, thank you!

I used OPKs twice.  That is exactly what both of mine turned out like.  I was NOT on clomid however,  but both of my sticks look like that and I have to say,  both times I turned up pregnant 2 weeks later!

I would suggest you keep testing even after you get your + b/c I found out I was getting a + then 4days later tested again b/c I was having cramping and discovered I actually o 7days later than when I first got my +,so I'm hoping we caught it.

My doctor says these tests are very accurate. If you receive a positive - two DARK lines - that means you will ovulate in about the next 24 hours. A light line is a negative. The tests do not measure degrees of LH hormone. Either it detects it or it doesn't. Lighter lines are negative. They do not count. It is unlikely that you will have 2 dark lines for more than one day (unless you test more than once in a 24-hour period when you've already had a positive test).

OPK's are designed to detect the lh hormone surge, which occurs before ovulation.

Every women will have a varying surge 'time'. So some women will test positive on an opk for 2 or 3 days, where as other women will only test positive once.

If you only detected your surge one day for the month you may have just had a shorter surge this month, and you will probably have ovulated on the saturday or sunday.

A posititve opk also doesnt mean you will definately ovulate, but it shows that  your body is gearing up to release an egg.
