On Skate Uk 4 do you have to turn on 2 feet from backwards to forwards? I can do forwards to backwards but not backwards to forwards. Could someone please tell me and also could you give me some tips for this?

Thanks for the help

  1. Its so easy just glide forwards, and turn to backwords on two feet. Twist your hips and hold your arms out for balance. 3-Turns come on a higher level of Skate Uk.

  2. Backwards to forwards is more difficult for almost everyone, so don't fret.

On forwards to backwards your head looks over, your arms rotate, then your hips and then the rest of your body follows.

On backwards to fowards, your head looks over, your arms rotate, then your knees (not hips) and then the rest of your body follows. Make sure you stay in the knee (ie bend them while keeping your back upright) throughout.

A good tip I learned was to help keep legs together the whole time (which you need for both turns as the further your legs are apart the harder the manoeuvre is) was imagine you're squeezing one glove between your legs below the knee, and one glove between your legs above the knee.

On both types of turns, try and ensure your weight is over one hip, eg on an anticlockwise foward to backwards your weight should be over your left hip, for clockwise your right.

It's generally good practice to have a good flow out after the turn to show that you're secure for the whole manoeuvre.

Both flavours of two-foot turns are really 3-turns with the free leg still on the ice.
