On Sonic 2 for Sega Genesis?

i got this system for $40.00 at a flea market, i bought 3 games Cross fire,sonic and sonic 2 i was playing sonic 2 i beat emerald hill zone 1 and 2 and chemical zone act 1 but on chemical zone act 2 when i go to those 4 sqaures one each thing and they move i get out of water and im standing on this part of land and i wait forever what do i do what do i hit i dont know how do the number combinations if theres some buttons you have to hit tell me PLEASE HELP

I'm not quite sure what you're asking...are you near a huge pool with no visible means of crossing? There is a yellow moving platform that will take you across. I know the backgrounds are pretty busy, but keep an eye out for moving platforms to help you progress.
