  1. This is not a wiseas* answer, but how much money do you have?  :-)   Remember that you don't usually pay-as-you-go, but instead pay at the end of the trip.  It *really* adds up.  I suggest you contact the cruise line's customer care centre and ask.  It's in their own best interest that you know in advance how much you should budget for.  Bon voyage!!

  2. I haven't been on the Freedom, but on the Carnival ones that I have been, I usually spend about $100.00 a day in the casino, a little when I am in port for souvenirs, i don't go on excursions because I like to explore on my own. The only thing that you really have to pay for is alcohol and the gift shops if you buy anything there. Everything on ship goes on your sail and sign card and after the second day (usually) they put a statement under your door so that you know how much you have spent on board.

  3. I haven't been on Freedom but assuming the other 5 Carnival ships I've been on have similar pricing, I usually spend about $400-600 on a 7 day cruise. I prepay for all my excursions so what I spend included the gratuities to the staff. I usually don't spend alot of shopping on the ship and alot depends on the amount of alcohol I consume( If I bring my kids I almost never drink so it costs less) Drinks on average run between $5 and $8 each, beer I think was $4.50. Have fun

  4. Last week, December 21, I arrived home from a Carnival, Fascination, cruise to Calica Mexico.

We spent on jewelry and 2 bottles of water (before getting off ship and venturing on our Mexico excursion-dont drink mexico water). My bill was $400.00. But, remember, I purchased several necklaces and bracelets for Christmas gifts.

It is best to go to the ships information desk the evening before, or morning of, disembarkment, and have them print you a receipt. They also, will slip a print up of receipt under your room door, the evening before disembarkment.

I used my credit card, and also, it is good to possibly bring some cash, such as $50- $80, just in case. Remember, I feel, it is not a good thing to use credit card while in another country, and this is why I brought along cash, in case I purchased some things while on my excursion in another country.

I did purchase some things while in Mexico, and used my cash only (christmas gifts also).

I hope this helps, have fun on your cruise, I have already purchased another cruise with Carnival Cruise lines. I loved Carnival Cruise lines, the staff treats everyone like Kings and Queens. The attitude of the staff is excellent, and helps contribute to the customers having excellent and polite attitudes towards each other also. This was my second cruise, and the first cruise was with Regal Princess, and they were nice, but had arrogance, and the customers were arrogant and rude also (I felt)....but Carnival really surprised me, because of their attitude, I had such a swell time. I am very sensitive to attitude of staff, or I wont go onboard again, since I feel, it is a waste of my time, and dont enjoy it. My next Carnival Cruise will be going on Freedom ship, and is next December 14, 2008, for 6 days, going to Keywest, Jamaica, Cayman Isles-departing from Fort Lauderdale. If you want a really good price, do like I did, call Carnival Cruise and speak to Celine, (1-800-819-3902 (85986). She will book you a perfect cruise, good prices, and will update you by email, such as if prices drop, specials, etc.

I really look forward to sailing with Carnival Cruise lines again!

I hope this helps, have fun with your cruise.

  5. All the food is included.  However, there is an optional extra cost restaurant where you can have a special dinner for $30 per person.

All the activities are free except for some special classes.

What you buy is up to you.  On the ship I'll usually spent $10 to $60 on stuff for myself and about $40 - $50 on gifts for others.  Off the ship about half the time I don't buy anything.  If I do, perhaps I'll spend up to $50.

Tips are $10 per day per person.

Looking back at my on board account for my last five cruises, I spent $550 on a seven night cruise in August 2004, $646 on an eight night cruise in October 2005, $375 on a seven night cruise in April 2006, $312 on a seven night cruise in June 2007 and $150 on a three night cruise in December 2007.

So as you can see, in 2004 and 2005 I was spending about $80 per night.  After already buying all the things I wanted, for my last three cruises I was spending about $50 per night.  I usually budget about $100 per night.
