  1. Why is everyone assuming that the food/restaurant was the cause??  The timing is all wrong.  If you have ever had a diagnosed case of food poisoning you would KNOW that the body's reaction is fairly soon after consumption of the food - like within the same evening.  You will vomit violently and probably have diarrhea.  This is obviously not a case of food poisoning!  Or, at least, not from what was eaten 1-1/2 days earlier!  Come on, people, don't talk about things you don't know about.

  2. Why tell US...???

    IDC..!!

phone the restaurant..- - - All of you...!!!

  3. Go to the doctor and mention the place where you all ate, then  get hold of your local enviromental health officer and let him know too.

  4. GO TALK TO THE RESTURANT (OH AND BRING AN INTERPRETER lol)

  5. jan n is wrong - food poisoning can take anything from a few hours to a few days to make you ill. if several of you got ill, it is highly likely that it is not a coincidence and was in fact the mexican food. if you want to pursue it, you need to see a doctor (you may have to give a stool sample) and call the environmental health inspector.

  6. It absolutely could be something you ate, and if you go to the doctor the doctor will start an investigation if it is diagnosed as a food bourne illness. Nobody ever believes this but I will tell you any way. Just about 90% of gastrointestinal diseases are passed by a hand shake, hugging, and kissing rather than food. So the odds are that your illness did not come from the fish.

  7. Go to the doctor!!! All of you, maybe you can get a group discount, lol!

Seriously though, I got terrible food poisoning while traveling, thought I got better. But felt a little off for a few weeks, and found in my toilet : pinworms!!!! EEEWWWW

I'm not saying it'll happen to you, these came from Asia. But you need a course of antibiotics probably.

Sorry your weekend was ruined, feel better soon!

  8. If all of you at the same thing and all got sick at the same time it sounds like ya'll might have got food poisoning.

  9. If it's Mexican, then it could be from the refried beans they're using.   Because they use so much they make it in big batched and then typically store it in 5 gallon buckets to cool in their fridge.

But 5 gallons of beans weighs about 40 pounds and it can take way too long to cool down.  Then center can be over 100 degrees even two days later which is perfect for growing bacteria.  The beans ferment and get funky.  If the beans are not heated quickly, it can be another opportunity for them to go bad.  Some cooks put the food into a steam table with hot water in it to warm and hold the food, but it can take several hours for the food to get hot.

Professional cooks are taught to chill and heat food quickly.  I put things like beans in a sink full of ice water and stir it until it is down to about 80 deg and then store it in containers no deeper than 4".

I kind of doubt that fish is the cause unless it is from a cook handling raw fish and then a salad without washing their hands or putting the fish on a counter that raw food was put on. Salads are a very common source of food poisoning because of poor kitchen hygene.

As for recourse, you should get a sympathetic ear from the person answering the phone, but you may not get a free meal out of it.   They do have a reputation and they know very well that if this happens more than about once a year, they will be out of business soon.  But sure to know what everyone had since there is probably one thing that made you sick.

It is important to call the Health Dept.  They are suppose to investigate any food poisoning in which two or more people are made sick at the same place.  They know all too well how beans are typically made.

  10. it was probably the fish .call the health inspector.and everyone go to the doctor.

  11. Good luck with this one!!  If you call the restaurant, of course, they will deny everything.  If you call the 'health inspector', they will probably file and report and go back to sleep.

Unless hundreds or thousands of people get ill, no one makes a big deal about it.

Someone probably didn't wash his/her hands when  preparing your food.  UGGGHHH!!!
