  1. It sounds like you are still swollen. That is why you can't bite down all the way. This is normal since your worst days for swelling is days 2 and 3. Try taking over the counter Ibuprofen. It is an anti inflammatory and pain reliever. It will help with the swelling . Be sure you are still on a soft diet like soup, mashed potatoes, pudding, yogurt ect...You can take Ibuprofen with Hydrocodone. We only give our patients 16 of Hydrocodone and this seams to be sufficient. Also make sure you are rinsing your mouth out 2 to 3 times a day with warm salt water. This will help with the healing process. Also in response to post #2 do not take Tylenol with Hydrocodone. That is too much acetaminophen and it will make you sick.

  2. The first 72 hours is the worst after that the swelling will go down and it wont feel like there is skin in the way.

The pain killer Hydrocodone is supposed to be good but it never done anything for me but i suppose everyone is bit different when it comes to pain.

I found that plain old Tylonol Extra strength is better and less chances of any side effects.

Just use a wash cloth with some ice in it pressed against your face for about 5 minutes a few times a day.

You will be beter soon by Sunday you should be as good as new.

  3. ice it often.

pain is very much normal, but if you have what they call "dry sockets" you could be in more pain and need to go back to doc to insert medicated gauze. Google it.

  4. Your Dr should of gave you percasite (Dont know how to spell it).  Put ice on it and maybe take some over the counter medicine like advil, tyenol, aleve.  If your really in that much pain, call your Dr's office.

  5. When I had my teeth pulled out I gargled allot of warm salt water. The salt water will disinfect it and make it heal faster. It will burn but, you’ll get use to it and it will heal. I hope this helps, good luck. I would do it like 3 or 4 times a day, especially after eating. Oh yeah, by the way...gargling with warm salt water also helps with a sore throat to. I did some research and found this:

"Timing is very important in order to relieve the pain of a pulled tooth. For the first 24 hours after the extraction, place an ice pack (wrapped in a towel) on the area outside the mouth where the tooth was pulled in order to prevent swelling--20 minutes on and 20 minutes off in order to minimize the swelling and pain," says Nabil Abaza, D.M.D., Ph.D., professor of dental medicine and oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospitals, Main Clinical Campus, in Philadelphia. "But after the first 24 hours, switch to gargling gently with warm salt water. The heat soothes, and the salt water helps prevent infection and remove any food particles."
