  1. I understand it to be 11 hours between the end of your last shift and the beginning of your next.

  2. that's an 11 hour gap that is plenty of time stop being lazy and get some work done. obviously not too strenuous as you had time to post this while you are there

  3. Working time directive says 8 hrs

  4. According to this website - the law states employees are entiteled to 11 hours of 'rest' in between shifts.

  5. 12 hrs before returning to workplace

  6. If you work for Securicor they make their own rules, I know I used to work for them. By the way the clocks go forward not back.

  7. should be 11 hours but may be reduced to 9 twice in one week but no more than 3 times in a fortnight

  8. Not enough information - we don't know what you do for a living. You posted this under "Cars & Transportation", so....

If you're a professional driver, you need 11 hours, though this can be reduced to 9 hours 3 times in a week.

If you're an airline pilot, it's something else.......

  9. there should be an 8 hr gap

  10. Between 8 and 11 if the other answers are anything to go by !!!

  11. it really depends on what job you do

  12. I am not sure but I don't think you have to waite, just stay at work. The police do. lol

  13. It depends on your job profession.

Some professions like medicine and military are around the clock with no rest unless someone else has taken over for you.

Some professions, such as transportation, have well defined periods you have to rest between work sessions.

You need to check the Department of Labor web site for your state to know the rules for your geography and your profession.  They are not the same for everyone.

  14. There is NOT a minimum number of hours between finishing one shift and starting the next.

Before now my Dad has got home at midnight (Monday) after finishing one shift, and has had to leave the house at 3 am the following day (Tuesday) to start the next shift.
