  1. The numbers stands for amount of liters, a european measurement for engines until the 80's when the USA stopped using CC's like the Chevrolet 325, 350 or the Ford 302 which is now the Ford Mustang 5.0. The lower the number the smaller the engine.

  2. The first guy on top is correct.  It is the size of the cylinder when added all up it is equal to the number of liter.  1.8 liter would be 1800 cc and 2.0 liter would be 2000 cc engine.  The bigger the number the bigger the engine and use more gas as the size of engine goes.

  3. It refers to engine size in metric volume. CC is cubic centemeters, not cubic capacity.

  4. usually those are the numbers that represent the size of the engine, 2,0 liters, 5 liters. of corse the bigger the number the bigger the engine.

  5. CC, it stands for Cubic Capacity and is the size of the engine, 1.8 = 1800, 2.0 = 2000cc = 2l = 2litre this is the total size of the capacity of all of the cylinders when at full stroke.

So, a 2l (2litre) four cylinder car would have a maximum capacity of 0.5lite (500ml) per cylinder when the piston is at it's lowest point.

    Hopefully this makes sense.
