  1. Think of RAM as a bucket of water thats constantly being filled and emptied more RAM bigger bucket faster RAM faster it gets dumped and filled. Possessor's does have some effect on the over all speed but its minimal compared to the RAM but doing anything that requires some computer "thinking" you will notice and thats almost all CPU

  2. Logically speaking both but, the answer to your type problem is to buy more RAM, Guaranteed to become faster!!!!

  3. both, the processors obviously and the ram, well, u need memory to do anything, and as u near capacity, ur comp will slow down, so yes more memory is better in all circumstances.

  4. both, mostly the processor  and then ram  mostly programs.

  5. Both can have a huge impact on speed in different ways. The processor being faster will help in executing programs as they are open, say rendering video or editing photo's. More RAM will help the CPU run at its full potential and will keep the computer running smoothly. If your computer runs out of room in the RAM, then it uses portions of the hard drive as RAM (virtual memory). This is much slower and you will see delays when trying to switch between programs and whatnot. If you are running XP, then the minimum RAM you should have to run smoothly is 512MB, though 1GB will show huge improvements. For Vista you need at least 1GB to run smoothly, and again, 2GB will always be better. The time it takes to acutally open up a program, say Internet explorer is almost all in how fast it can be loaded from the hard drive. That will have almost nothing to do with the CPU or RAM.

  6. i think both of them

  7. Both affects the speed but even upgrading ram Ull notice alot of speed increase

  8. well they both do but you can upgrade the ram and it will go faster and if its a Laptop then that might be a better idea because a laptop processor is fairly hard to change. so upgrading the ram should be easy enough and ram is fairly cheap unlike processors

  9. Its actually both that affect speed but in different ways. Think of RAM as your workspace on your desk, more deskspace (RAM) allows you to do more at the same time which cuts down on slowdown when running multiple applications.

CPU is your brain the faster you think the quicker you can get things done. If you wanna boost the speed of your computer w/o having to overhaul the processor and motherboard (not worth it on an older laptop) just add some RAM.

512MB to 1GB is a good amount for Windows XP and will prob set you back about 20 bucks
