  1. Well I went on a Royal Carribean Cruise in July 2006 and they gave us cards that we buy everything with even in the shops they don't take cash. Just bring enough money for your ports so you can buy souvenirs and stuff. Hope you have fun!

  2. When going on a cruise they set up an account with a card which is also used as your room key and needed when leaving and boarding ship at ports of call. This account will be used for your purchases on ship including soda and tip is also taken out of this. Otherwise money is only used in casino's.

    Enjoy your Cruise.

  3. You will need to put a deposit down of $100 dollars for a cruise that is 3-5 days or $250 down for a cruise that is 7 days or longer. You can put that deposit with either cash or credit card, and that deposit will be used for your grautity and just in case you purchase pictures or other onboard features, but if you don't use it they will refund your money at the end of your trip. Also, you are allowed to bring sodas onboard with you.

  4. You will be required to place a deposit to your account when boarding the ship. Although you do not drink, there are extra's which may tempt you. A spa experience, the many, many excursions at each port of call, the reservation only restaurant that is not covered in the meal program and the list goes on. Cruise lines will request a credit card number to cover basic on board charges or you may elect to pay cash or use traveller cheques for your deposit. Most ask for $200 US upon boarding and of course the balance is refunded when you disembark. I always use cash as not all cruise lines are quick to release the hold on your credit card, however most are prompt. Remember, a cruise ship is designed to take your money by tempting you with all sorts of goodies. So be prepared in the event you find something unique onboard or in the ports of call.

  5. I always suggest taking money with you.  While on board with Carnival they never take cash with the exception of the casino and the info desk if you need to put money on your account to pay for your tab.  You may want to buy something at the port or something.

I think going anywhere without cash is a bit risky because you never know what will happen.  But don't take all the money you have!

  6. Not really, unless you plan to buy pictures or something, but those can just be added onto your bill, which is charged to your credit card, enjoy your cruise!
