  1. the main things to pay for are:

    all alcohol

    the casino

    the spa

    the coffee shop

of course all the shops on the ship

and any excursion you book through the ship

there may be a few differences depending on cruise line, I know Royal Caribbean charges you just to walk into Johnny Rockets (a hamburger place 50's style)

On Carnival the only restaurant you have to pay for is the Supper Club.

in the dinning room (any meal) you can order espresso and cappuccino free where you have to order it at the coffee shop the rest of the day and it is not free there, but there is more kind of drinks there too. (this is on Carnival)

24 hr room service is free as well (a menu is in the room)

you must also remember you tips will be charged to you too at the end about $10 to $15 a day per person (and well worth every penny)

and don't forget what you plan to spend in ports

  2. well that depends on the cruise line you choose...but most of the time you pay for alcoholic drinks and sodas...on the cruise i went on (Norwegian Cruise Line- NCL-) you could buy a soda drink card which you pay for once and it allows you to get as many sodas as you want....also there were various restaurants (about 10) on the ship...most of them were free and about 4 had a cover charge of $10-$15...but it is optional to eat there....and of course the gift shops and any pictures they took of you would have to be paid for if you want them...and if you would like spa treatment (massages, manicure, pedicure, etc.) those would have to be paid for as well...however most of the dining, entertainment, and services are paid for when you buy your cruise ticket (tip is included for the ships employees- but it is well worth it, NCL crew members are phenomenal)....

  3. What I can think of is if you buy any sodas or acohol! Juice and tea is provided. Any soviners isn't free. Whatever you do at your ports aren't free. Everything else is free!

  4. Onboard you will pay for everything with your guest card, which acts as a kind of credit card for your cruise. You will pay for drinks, duty free, any non-dining room or buffet food such as coffee shop items, ice cream, sushi bar, etc. Pretty much the only place on board where cash is relevant is the casino. Also, tips at the end of the cruise may extra, depending on the cruise line. And of course, any purchases at any port of call are extra, including shore excursions booked while still on board.

  5. Your cruise includes your cabin, entertainment on ship, and ALL of the food is free. That includes all meals in the main dining restaurant, the buffet, and various other places that may have pizza and snacks, room service (24/7 free service) and food in specialty restaurants.

HOWEVER, there is always a gratuity/ service charge for meal in the specialty restaurants. The gratuity/service charge can range from $5.00 to $20.00 per person each time you go to one of these specialty eating places. In these places you can usually order what you want and that can be anything on the menu and a "seconds" if you want it is also free.

Most cruise ships have a couple such restaurants but Norwegian Cruise line usually has 8 or 9 specialty eating places. NCL promotes the use of these "alternative" dining options as a part of their "Freestyle" cruising. SO if you go on an NCL ship be careful or you will end up paying a bunch to eat in these places.

Coffee, tea, milk, juices, and punches are also free (except they may charge for Starbucks coffee. But you will have to pay for all alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. These will add a bunch to your bill also. Some ships have free ice cream stations, but they may also have a Ben and Jerry's place where you have to pay.

If you take tours from the ship you must pay for them. If you want the many photos that will be taken by the ship's staff on and as you depart the ship in ports you must pay for them.

  6. I have only been on one cruise, and it was a Carnival cruise.  The only thing that was free was food and the shows.  All of the food is free.  We had to pay for alcohol, spa, cigarettes, gambling, etc....

  7. YOu have to pay for all alcohol, eating at specialty restaurants, service fee (usually $10 per person per day), any excursions you take at port, and any gifts you buy on board.

  8. Liquor Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everything else is included less tips

  9. when I went on the Royal Caribbean cruise and I had to pay for any drinks that were alcoholic and soda, they gave us water, lemonade and iced tea for free. we didn't have to pay for any food in the buffet or at dinnertime! we got a menu at dinner and you could order as many dinners as you want and there are no prices, it's all free! you do have to pay for stuff on the ship that is in the shops. It was easier for me to use the seapass they gave me to pay for everything cuz then the money just comes out of your bank account at the end of the cruise! hope this answer helps!
