On a dual rail PSU, does it matter if most of the load is on one rail?

Or should I attempt to balance the load as evenly as possible?

  1. balance it as evenly as possible, it'll make the PSU last longer, and lessen the risk of component burnout due to overload of one rail. That's the technically correct answer. The real answer is that it's probably only a single rail that's been split and has separate voltage regulators and protection on each "rail" Very few multi rail PSU's are truly multi- rail...But you should still try to balance the load as the voltage regulators and protection devices are separate, and the less amperage you run through each side the better it'll be for the life of the PSU
