On a iPod Touch, when you reset home screen layout is it suppose to restart?

I have download jailbreak and I want it out of my iPod touch 1.1.5. I've click reset and then reset home screen, but is it suppose to restart the WHOLE ipod? the other resets shuts down my ipod then restarts it, but the "home screen layout" doesn't reset the ipod. is this normal? and how do i remove the installer icon on my home screen?

  1. To get installer off your iPod, you need to restore it in iTunes..
