Question:

On a mountain bike front shock what is rebound/compression and alloy steerer?

i know what lock out does but im not sure what the rest of these do. can someone explain it to me?

  1. Steer Tube - the steer tube is the part of the fork that connects at the crown, this piece is the part that attaches to you bike. It goes through your head tube and your stem attaches to it.

    Steer can be made of-

    Steel - heavy

    alu - lighter

    carbon - really light

    Rebound - This will control the speed in with the fork return when compressed. When you push the fork down you can make it come back faster or slower.

    Compression - This will control the stiffness of the fork when it is impacted. You can make the fork hard and soft to push down.
