  1. It's always a good idea to have a separate page for your referrals. It should be noted on your resume that references are available upon request, unless they ask for a certain # of referrals on the application. It is also better to have more referrals available for them. Hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  2. This is a good question. I cannot tell you how many applications I have seen my managers put aside simply because the applicant didn't fill in the whole application. If they give you five spaces to list each job you've had in the past two years, but you only worked at the same ONE company during that time, that is understandable if you leave the other four spaces blank. However, everything else needs to be complete if you want them to take you seriously. You should make a list of five people who don't mind being personal references for you. Try to avoid family members, but former co-workers, classmates from college, and even personal friends will work. Make another list of professional references that should include the name, address, and phone number of each business you've worked for or organization you've volunteered for on a consistent basis . Be sure to get your direct supervisor's first and last name and his/her direct phone extension. Just keeping a copy of these two lists saved to your computer or your cell phone (and remember to update them as needed) because you'll already have that information available whenever you need to fill out applications.

  3. It looks better if you fill out the application entirely. I'm not really sure if they ever actually call those people though.

  4. They usually DO call, at least until they talk to two.  So three is best.  If you are young and haven't much work experience, don't be afraid to put down things like babysitting jobs or mowing lawns.  My daughter even put down that she did weeding and landscaping for us for a summer, because we did pay her when we moved into our new home.  So what if it is your parents--it shows she was willing to work hard even before her first "real" job!  Good luck!
