  1. A car crash happens every second.  For a plane to crash, I would say 2.  For it to explode while crashing depends on the plane, the impact, and how much fuel is in the aircraft.

  2. I too had a fear of flying for many years - what I did was take flying lessons and learning about the physics of flying and how the airplane wants to stay in the air. I read all the NTSB reports and learned that most crashes are pilot error but catastrophic failures do happen - I guess my bottom line is that if it is your time - nothing you can do will stop it - I am an "odds player" and the odds are way in your favor of having a great flight and nothing going wrong - far better than driving your car on the roads. but I bet you do that and aren't afraid.

I used to think about the flight like a ride at Disneyland - I was set to have a great and fun time - it helped me alot.  Hope it helps you - traveling is a wonderful thing and opens up the whole world out there for you - don't let the fear of flying stop you from having a great time in life. If you let this fear control you - other fears will creep in and you will let fear control your life - take control!!!! Enjoy!!!

  3. i would give it a 3 cars crash a lot more than planes unless they are one of those little single engine planes

  4. The odds of dying in a plane crash are about 1 in 8 million. According to http://www.planecrashinfo.com/rates.htm if you got on a plane at random once a day every day it would be 21,000 years before you would die in a crash.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say 0. Airplanes are the safest form of transportation in the world.

  5. if you mean the chances of exploding after crashing, then like 3, depending on the crash, but if oyu mean the chances of it crashing and then exploding (as in on instince) then like  negative 2.

  6. .01

  7. Your chances of being involved in an aircraft crash are practically 0.  You have more of a chance of being in a car accident or hit when crossing the street than you do of being in a plane crash.  On a scale of 1 - 10 your chances are about a -100 or greater.  You have nothing to fear.

  8. Far from ever getting on the scale.  "One in a million" isn't close either (in terms of number of airplane trips). It's all relative, though. A 747 with multiple engines flying at 30,000 ft or more is very unlikely to crash, even if it loses one or more engines. If it does come down, however, there will rarely be any survivors. In addition, the crash will be highly publicised, usually accompanied by sensational images, the world over, imprinting the accident in our memories and making it seem like a common occurrence, and like we "know" people who died in the crash.

A single-engine is more likely to have a power failure, but the pilot can either recover from that (which is what usually happens), or, if she's good, will have a landing spot picked and glide to it, with everyone aboard probably escaping unhurt.

If a plane crash does occur, however, in any kind of aircraft, whether an explosion will follow depends entirely on the circumstances surrounding the crash, how much fuel there was in the tanks, whether the airplane was carrying combustible materials, how exactly the crash occurred, the weather - fuel ingites more easily in hot weather, but heavy rains will probably prevent ignition. Not really any way to give it a 1-10 probability. Fear of flying is irrational, there isn't all that much you can do about it, but it is a shame for you. Flying ( I mean actually flying, not standing through hours of security checks for commercial airliners and then being in the middle row of a 747 where you cannot see or feel anything) is an incredibly pleasurable and very safe experience. I hope you come to enjoy it.

  9. Usually when they crash they don't explode.

Accident rate is about once per million departures.  Most are pilot issues.

Not all of those result in fatalities.

  10. 9.999

  11. 4

  12. the chances of a plane to crash and explode is 10/10 but dear the chances of a plane crashing are 0.63%.so,i think u r not that unlucky....

so if u r planning to take a flight be safe and hav a nic journey

  13. One to ten really isn't the right scale to put this on.  Airplanes of all types fly literally hundreds of thousands of hours without incident.  There are tens of thousands of auto accidents for every aircraft accident, and that includes "little single-engine airplanes."

Go ahead and enjoy your flight.  Remember that the people who designed and built the airplane and the crew in control are skilled professionals who have your safety as their NUMBER ONE concern.  They won't let you down.

  14. You are safer on a commercial airliner than you are in your car or in your bathtub. There are more people killed by trains hitting their cars than die in commercial airliners.

Relax and have a nice trip. It WILL be safe.

    Regards,

    Dan
