  1. In the UK, you can only use the 1st class dining car if you've "been invited", normally by an announcement over the tannoy inviting standard passengers in.

    And this normally means they've not got enough 1st class passengers to fill it...LOL

  3. On GNER it is open to standard passengers, but they have to pay for their meal whereas those with first class tickets get complimentary food.

    I do suspect priority is given to first class ticket holders though
