  1. It will emulate anything you normally see on your computer screen.  So, yes, you can watch that on your monitor.  (you might be a little disappointed with the quality though, your PC might be a little more forgiving than a big monitor).


  2. The quality of the picture depends whether your laptop video recognizes the actual display resolution and what resolutions plug'n pray tells the laptop it does (actual resolution or just PC video modes).

    It also depends upon the quality of the source video.  Downloaded TV shows are likely low resolution.

    My laptop does an excellent job up converting standard DVD's to the 1366x768 resolution of my 40" LCD HDTV.  But same laptop connected to 32" widescreen LCD at a hotel with same real resolution would only do PC 4:3 video modes on VGA like 1024x768, not widescreen modes.  So your mileage may vary.
