  1. Progressed planets are calculated most of the time by taking each day after you were born to represent one year of your life. So for example if you were born on april 5th, and wanted to know what you and your life would be like when you were 15, you'd draw a chart for april 20th.

  2. Just to add to the above... Transits tend to be event-oriented... they indicate how the world around you is affecting you, and how you are responding to it... whereas progressions are more internally oriented. Progressions indicate how your inner self is shifting and evolving.

Consider this metaphorically & metaphysically: With a day for a year formula, eventually your Progressed Sun will move into the next two or three signs over the course of your life... and there is a deeper spiritual lesson in that. You will always manifest your Natal Sun Sign, but the progressed Sun Sign indicates a subtle undercurrent...

As an example, a Capricorn becomes Aquarian then Piscean underneath... and so the controlling Cap becomes more open-minded, then more empathetic... lessons a Cap can use... and you can apply the same evolving idea to all of the signs...

  3. Transits are everyday.  For example, today the moon, venus, mars, whatever, are in such a such sign.  Progressions simply means the number of years that have progressed since your birth, and where your natal planets have moved to since then.
