  1. Georgia state income tax is for Joint or Head of Household: Tax is computed at a graduated rate and is assessed in a range from one to five percent on the first $10,000 of net taxable income

    (total tax on first $10,000 of net taxable income is $340) plus six percent of the excess of net taxable income over $10,000.

    Thus, if you had an total income of say $50,000 the tax would be $2740  thus the withholding would be $230 per month.

    Military personnel whose home of record is Georgia or who are residents of Georgia are subject to Georgia income tax upon all income regardless of source or where it is earned, unless specifically exempt by Georgia law. Refer to the instruction booklet (IT-511) for additional information.
