I'm trying to get an idea of how many clothing sizes I can drop by loosing weight.

My current exercise involves walking and playing on playgrounds (swings, running, climbing, jumping). I am working my way up to more intense workouts.

I'm eating smaller portions, and limiting fats and sugars. I'm drinking primarily water and skim milk-with soda as a rare treat. I limiting "white flour" and white rice as well.

I have a medium frame. I currently weigh an estimated 170-180 pounds (It fluctuates within that range). I would like to drop about 40-50 pounds or so to get into the 120-130 pound range.

As I get more into exercise, I will be working on toning, and shaping up my arms, legs, and midsection.

About how many clothing sizes can I realistically expect to drop? I currently wear a size 10 for pants and size 16 top.

  1. If you lost 40lb-50lb I reckon you'd lose 6-7 inches taking you down to about size 2 pants and size 8-10 top.

  2. It would depend on your height.  Many catalogs, on-line and paper, give charts for converting inches to clothing size.  A weight of 120 would be good if you are 5-4; it is far too light if you are 5-9.
