  1. I agree with Lisa. Living in a college town usually means lots of different living situations; apartments, renting a home, frat houses etc. I think living off campus is cheaper, honestly. In my opinion, renting is the best way to go. Find a homeowner who has cheap rent (sometimes ownders have 4-5 bedrooms house priced as low as  $200/room!) If you don't mind sharing your space with several folks, go for it!

  2. An apartment only if you have roommates.

  3. Off is usually cheaper if sharing with a couple roomies.  That said, if you are going to be a 1st year student in the fall - consider living on campus - at least for one year.  Living in a dorm is a good way to experience college the first year.  You meet so many people on your floor, building and other dorms.  It eases you into college life, you don't have to cook, and the laundry is in your hall.  It is often the way you'll meet the people you'll want to eventually share an apartment with.  Good luck with your decision.

  4. it would probably be cheaper to rent an apartment that way there is usually more rooms so you can have more roomates to split the rent with you
