I have a 13 year old bush and regardless of my efforts it's acting very sickly.

  1. I don't know from experience but, I have heard that some people went into a cemetery and collected old roses and revived them. They were at least 50 year old roses.

    More information;

    The American Rose Society classifies an "old" rose as any rose introduced before 1867. Many gardeners consider it old if it has survived 75 years or more.

    If fertilizers, mulch and water haven't helped maybe you could take some cuttings and make a new plant. Here is a link for that.

    If all else fails and you want to try to relocate this rose you can do that in the early fall or next spring.

    I had same problem, at one point someone cut it down to ground, and I tended it , as it re-flourished like it was new, and trellaced itself all over the back of the house again.

    But then 2 years later it kept wanting to die off again

    and it did die

    i never knew why

    didnt have internet back then!

    try the link though...
