On-disc Resident Evil 6 DLC to become available for free, assures Capcom
Capcom has been placed on the hot-seat once again, this time because of the discovery of on-disc Resident Evil 6 downloadable content (DLC).
The fans of the franchise were not too happy to discover that the disc contains locked content, which includes the No Hope difficulty mode and co-op multiplayer.
They contended that they should not be charged for using what is already present on the disc after paying nearly $60 to purchase it in the first place.
The publisher was quick to respond to the latest wave of criticism, explaining that the on-disc content was incomplete at the time of the game’s launch and that they plan on releasing the full content through a title update soon, though the exact date was
not given.
Capcom also confirmed that they had no plans of charging for the content that was discovered by the fans on the disc, assuring that the title update would be free of cost.
The company has, however, already announced in recent weeks that paid DLC is in the works for Resident Evil 6 and will be coming out in the not-so-distant future.
The latest title in the survival horror third-person shooter has been struggling to keep the fans of the franchise happy.
The initial trailers of the game failed to overwhelm gamers with excitement and to make matters worse, the launch of the game turned out to be pretty rocky.
PlayStation 3 owners who pre-ordered the game and downloaded it to their consoles were prompted to download the day 1 patch.
Upon downloading and installing the patch, the game stopped booting, given an error pertaining to the game’s authentication.
While Capcom suggested a temporary solution to bypass the issue and boot the game, but this was not without flaws as the online players using the digital version of the game were unable to play against players on the retail version.
While Resident Evil 6 is receiving mixed views because of its various good and bad features, which range from impressive voice acting to annoying camera angles, Capcom expects it to become one of their highest-selling games ever.
