On eBAY can you choose the shipping price?

the seller only has one option for shipping price and its USPS mail international $38.80. I want the priority mail international flat-rate envelope which is only $ 9.45. am I allowed to choose my own shipping service even if the seller posted only one option?

since the seller isn't getting the money for shipping, then aren't i allowed to choose?

  1. Ask the seller if they will use the cheaper option.  Good communication is the key to a successful transaction.  Ask before you bid.  If you bid without asking, you accept the risk of the seller having the final say.


  2. No but you could request it. Though it's up to them if they'll do it. They are not obligated to do so.

    They are probably trying to make profits off shipping as well as high bidder or buy it now price.

    They control the shipping cost and since it's listed in the auction for that price, it's your choice to buy it or pass. If you buy it, you do have to pay this shipping cost.

    I sell on ebay, and do not charge more than what it actually costs to ship, but many sellers do.

  3. On ebay putting a high shipping price is a way  the seller has assuring that they dont lose money on the auction. You will see alot of it. So, no is the answer to your question
