Question:

On global warming true untrue?

if the natural cycle of earth goes through warming and cooling periods. wouldnt it be a better idea to find if these periods have sped up than to figure out if they are happening? we know the earth goes through major climate changes, if man can change them wouldnt it be more plausible to say we have sped up or decreased the time between these occurances than to say that we have eliminated one. for instance i hear many people say "global warming is not true look at recent years we are cooling". but before that we did have an increase. maybe we are helping (for lack of a better word) the earth to speed up its natural processes by adding co2 into it at much faster increments.

  1. Global Warming is a scam propagated by Gore and it is a lie.....

  2. you have a really good point. but i dont think it is worth a risk to just not do anything about it. d**k Cheney (who wants to take over the world) said "The world is warming, but in a different way. Its warming in a procces called Spring!". SOoooo many people booed him!!! it was funny!

  3. untrue

  4. My fear is that as CO2 is added, does the O2 diminish? If so, we are in deep trouble!!!

  5. Global warming started long before the "Industrial Revolution" and the invention of the internal combustion engine. Global warming began 18,000 years ago as the earth started warming its way out of the Pleistocene Ice Age-- a time when much of North America, Europe, and Asia lay buried beneath great sheets of glacial ice.

    Earth's climate and the biosphere have been in constant flux, dominated by ice ages and glaciers for the past several million years. We are currently enjoying a temporary reprieve from the deep freeze.

    Approximately every 100,000 years Earth's climate warms up temporarily. These warm periods, called interglacial periods, appear to last approximately 15,000 to 20,000 years before regressing back to a cold ice age climate. At year 18,000 and counting our current interglacial vacation from the Ice Age is much nearer its end than its beginning.

    Global warming during Earth's current interglacial warm period has greatly altered our environment and the distribution and diversity of all life. For example:

        Approximately 15,000 years ago the earth had warmed sufficiently to halt the advance of glaciers, and sea levels worldwide began to rise.

        By 8,000 years ago the land bridge across the Bering Strait was drowned, cutting off the migration of men and animals to North America.

        Since the end of the Ice Age, Earth's temperature has risen approximately 16 degrees F and sea levels have risen a total of 300 feet! Forests have returned where once there was only ice.

    This is just my opinon, but I think this whole global warming thing is all of what the government is saying and is completely untrue. Its just another cycle the earth is going through. The fact that this information says, "Global warming started long before the "Industrial Revolution" and the invention of the internal combustion engine," proves the theory of global warming as being wrong because there was no pollution, or cars, or greenhouse gases creating this effect.

  6. Scientists do all that.  The conclusion they have reached is that:

    We were in a period of pretty stable temperatures.  That was natural, for these times.  We stopped warming up from the last Ice Age 10,000 years ago.

    By emitting way too much greenhouse gases, mostly by burning fossil fuels, we've changed that to a strong warming trend.  It's not volcanoes or forest fires or even atomic bombs.  They're not powerful enough to do it.  Or changes in the Sun, which we constantly measure.

    We need to reduce our emissions to avoid serious damage.

    A whole lot of really smart people have been working on this for years.  In spite of the bad information often posted here, they really do know what's going on.

  7. You are right to question global warming, but you still have it wrong. In the last 100 years, global warming has only contributed to the temperature increase with 1 degree. That's all. We are actually coming out of an ice age. That's why ice caps are melting.

  8. maybe....

  9. maybe

  10. Good point.  I think global warming is just the cycle of the earth, although all the chemicals and such could be doing something.  The whole idea of global warming is still controversial, so there really isn't a straight answer yet.  I think your theory is plausible, but still, no straight answer yet.

  11. The cycles of the earth you are talking about are astronomic phenomenon (tilting of the earth). We have no influence to accelerate or decelerate them.

  12. I agree that we are helping but that is only a fractional percent of the problem.  The primary causes are

    1. Methane released into the atmosphere due to tidal waves and undersea earthquakes;

    2. 187 volcanoes world wide;

    & 3. Innumerable yearly forest fires world wide.
