On gta 3 for ps2 where can i find a helicopter?

i just bought the game because i tough i could get a flying car like

the one in back to the future but now that i know that i can't do the

i want to try to fly a helicopter and see if it's as good

Only dodo i will teach you how to fly. When you go to the straight line  at the airport  go as fast as you can and press up on the analog and hold it until you see the plane make some small jump then let it and you well fly in the sky dude but it only takes sec on the sky then you well go down to the ground.

Unfortunately you can't fly a helicopter in that game only in the subsequent GTA's. You can fly something called a dodo in the game which is an ordinary propeller light aircraft except that its wings have been cut so that they are too short for flight, the effect being that you can sort of fly if you get enough speed and you can make big jumps and the game times how long you remained airborne as a statistic and you can try to beat you're records.

However you can get sustained high altitude flight in the game by exploiting a glitch in the physics. The dodo is parked in the airport in the third island that you are allowed to access in the game. You take the dodo get a very long run up on the runway so you gather speed, and whilst doing so gradually grind the nose of the aircraft into the ground. Continue doing this until you see sparks and then release the yoke, the physics engine will treat the downward motion of pointing your nose to the ground like an uncoiling spring in response to the upward pressure of the usual limited flight the dodo can achieve. from here you can gain alot of altitude but as the wings are too short for it to fly techinically and as there wasn't really a proper flight engine built into the game you have to be very careful with altitude control and steering to remain airborne and not crash. do not let the plain gain too muc altitude too quickly and never let the nose point too far upward or you will stall. Also all banking movements must be very, very gradual and you will have to make all changes in bearing well in advance as you have no rudder control and any bank steeper than a few degrees will cause you to barrel roll and then nose dive. Remember also that in order to prevent the nose pointing too far up and causing a stall, you'll have to periodically push the nose down slightly to stay level which will cause the spring-effect even more and cause a greater upward pressure on the nose making banking especially risky.

EDIT: Oh yeah and also, you can fly the tank. If you turn on the low gravity cheat, and then get a tank (easiest done by activating the generate tank cheat). Find a long unobstructed space where you hopefully won't crash into anything whilst traveling in a straight line. Turn your turret so that it points directly behind you and fire and continue to fire until reach a rhythm, the force will generate propulsion that gradually increases and do to the low gravity effect, your tank will take off into the air like an aircraft. Don't forget to keep firing or you'll fall, you can sort of steer to by banking the tank and by changing the direction of the turret however steering on these flying tanks is extremely unwieldy and unreliable and it's best for short distances in a straight line. Fun though, and destructive since you're constantly throwing mortars all over the place to get airborne.

The other answerer is right there are no helicopters just the Dodo a very hard to control plane. You find this on the third island (If I remember correctly)

Vice City and GTA's after have helicopters to fly.

Unless you were thinking of using a cheat code to make cars fly???

You bought GTA 3 because you thought you could get flying cars?? LOL

What you should of done is get Vice City OR San Andreas on the PC, you can install mods to make your car fly, and I also know that you can get a DeLorean mod/Back to the Future mod (which I have) which enables you do drive a DeLorean and go backwards or forwards through time.
