I know the way of stopping with the toe pick, I'm having trouble with that, too, but for now we're focusing on the other type. The other type I'm working on is the type where you bend your knees and push out with both feet, scraping the ice with your blades. I can't do that-either one foot goes and the other stays, both feet move a tiny bit and end up in a forward swizzle, or I just keep on going forward after doing it. I can do it perfectly on the wall, but I guess I'm too afraid to do it moving on ice with no support.
Just in case this helps, these are the things I know on ice:
1 foot glide
2 foot glide
Swizzles
Half swizzles and pumps
that thing i forget the name where its just casually leaning on one foot and pushing off a tiny bit, then the other, then the other.
backwards swizzle
doing a spin with half swizzles
and turning around while scraping the ice. not sure, there might be more but those are the basics.
for anyone who knows the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ, I've tested the B-2 section and I didn't pass because I failed the stop.
Thanks in advance!
