Why do dead animals struck by vehicles not wind up on traffic lane or tossed further from the road upon impact? If highway maintenance personnel put them at the side of the road, wouldn't it just be easier to collect the carcasses at time of finding?

  1. I believe there is a special agency that is supposed to pick up the carcasses. They push it to the side of the road so there are no accidents.

  2. sometimes we pull them off the road and go back and get a pickup with a lift gate, or go to get someone to help lift it up in the pickup or a loader if its a big animal

  3. After getting hit,  the animals just didn't have strength left to walk further away.

No,  really,  like mentioned above,   highway crews or police officers will sometimes only be able to clear the critter from the traffic lane to prevent people from running into each other dodging the critter or making a bigger mess to clean up by spreading it for the next quarter mile.
