On its 60th Anniversary, Travelers generates $30 million for charity
It was the 60th Anniversary of the Travelers Championship and the championship week came to a close after a tremendous final round by Marc Leishman. The Australian shot 62 in the final round to take home his first title.
In the year 2012, Travelers Championship generated a total amount of $1 million for charity. With the commitment from Travelers, the total charitable amount is almost equivalent to the winner’s prize money $1.08 Million.
The tournament contributes its earnings in different charity groups. The Wall Gang Camp is one of the organisations in which they contribute. The orgnisation helps children who are suffering from cancer and other diseases.
At the end of the tournament, Travelers thanked Nathan Grube the Tournament Director for his services and the staff of TPC River Highlands for making this tournament a big success.
It also expressed the hopes that this relationship will go a long way. The 2013 Travelers Championship will be held from 17-23 June at the same venue.
The tournament also provides a base for any charity that can raise funds during the tournament.
Annually, Travelers’ employees participate in an event, in which money is donated to charity for every birdie scored.
The Travelers is basically an insurance company, which provides its services on auto, home and business in case of causality. It has over 30,000 employees and generates funds over $25 billion.
The company holds events that help it raise funds for charity. The people who work at the company also participate in different events, which in return raise funds for charity.
The Travelers are working on a noble cause and their work should be acknowledged.
Moreover, if possible, assistance should be provided, so that more children can be benefited.
At the end of the tournament Travelers CEO said, “The week has been a tremendous success, capped off by a terrific finish by champion Marc Leishman”.
Fishman also said, “Travelers have been a part of this tournament from the beginning in 1952. We are a hometown company supporting a hometown event benefiting hometown charities. It does not get any better than that”.
