On itunes when you hit the file button what does it mean to export library....?

i am trying to move songs from my ipod to my itunes library and i am having no luck so i was wondering if this is what i need....

  1. in file there is also a button called Transfer purchases from ipod.

    I dont think you need to click the export library button.

    you can only transfer the purchases from your ipod if the music was bought from the itunes store.

    otherwise you'll have to buy a programme that does it for you.


  2. exports the library.xml file containing all the iTunes info, song ratings & locations, etc. It does not contain the actual songs themselves. For that, Back Up to Disk must be used.

  3. Exporting library wouldn't solve your problem. Try the link in my sources to get iPod songs transferred to your desktop and into your iTunes.

  4. it means song are going in to itunes.
