I wanted to print out a book on line with just pictures that a child can make up their own words/story to. Does anyone know a website that has one? Very appreciated,

  1. Children's picture book authors are a good place to try. I have been a big fam of Jan Brett's books and she has TONS of really neat activities for kids. Go to http://www.janbrett.com/ and click the 'Make Your Own' link.

If you are not satisfied with what you find on the net, my kids loved to make stories where they were in it via a digital camera for the images. If you have a graphics program, the kids can even go into the photos and alter them. Drawing period clothes are cheaper than sewing costumes. LOL. Learning to use tools in your graphics programs that will let you make 'sticker' images will open up a whole realm of possibilities. we use gifs all the time to add to a photo or drawing. For intance, we have a digital paper doll set with many accessory gifs that can be stuck on to the base picture. Some of accessory sets we have made are a scientists lab set with a lab coat, test tubes, animated bunsen burner, chemical bottles, and shelves gifs. We also have an artist's set, a chef's set, a musician set, and some generic gifs such as fake mustaches, silly eyes, tables, etc.   It is all done digitally, not on paper. Even the kindergarteners find these easy to do and the older kids find them fun. It is well worth the time to create the sets for the kids to use over and over again. If you feel like you would love to do this, but you are not sure how to go a bout setting up some sets, let me know and I will give you a hand in getting started. Just e-mail me via my profile.

  4. No, I don't know of one, but you can easily make one on your own. Do a google image search for some cute pictures that would appeal to a child, find some that seem to fit together in some way and print them. Or you can look at websites with free clip art to find pictures that you can use. If you aren't feeling especially creative, you can just get a picture book from the library that you child has never read before and cover up the words with paper or removable tape, or scan the pics and remove the words on your computer and then reprint them. (it's not stealing as long as you dont try to publish the book with the copied pictures. :).) You could even draw them yourself, or use photographs of family events your child probably doesn't remember if all else fails. There are lots of ideas.

EDIT - Almost forgot! COLORING BOOKS! Or printable coloring sheets. Those will work wonderfully, and then your child can color the pictures.
