  1. You're pretty thoughtful in remembering. So I'd guess you're somewhere in your 20's. As a parent, one of the greatest gifts I could ever imagine is a list of 5 or 10 things I did "right." Especially, "because of you..." statements. Dad: Because of you, I open the door for women. Because of you, I take a walk when I'm angry, rather than react in yelling. Because of you, I enjoy alcohol socially, and don't abuse it like many of my peers. Mom: Because of you, I apologize to my woman when I"m wrong. Because of you, I am kind to animals. Because of you, I never go to sleep in anger.

Kids don't know, until they themselves have grown kids, that a parent's greatest joy is having purpose. Once kids grow up, the familiar purpose disappears. Knowing that a parent made a difference in the character of their child, well, I personally cannot imagine anything better. Few parents want "things" or the gift to be about them.

  2. I would get them a movie pass for 2.

  3. Maybe something that they can keep and treasure. Like a clock with their names and wedding date on it. Or go to www.gifts.com and check out what they have. They have alot of unique gifts and great couple gifts.
