On my FAFSA my estimated Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is2837 is that or good? also how do you figure it?

  1. well i work in a financial aid office and from what I learn if your EFC=0, you will receive the full amount of 4300. So that number Fafsa just show you is just a number, because if it was correct you would not qualify for financial  aid. Mine said some numbers in the 300's but the financial aid specialist who reviewed it said my EFC=0. So don't worry about it.


  2. Your EFC is your expected family contribution, it means that the Federal Gov't feels you and your family can contribute about $2837 towards the cost of your education for the first year.  You will be eligible to receive a PELL grants, about $1300 for the year (half for each semester).  

    You will need to contact your school to see if you can receive any other federal or state need based grants.  

    You will be eligible for federal stafford loans of at least $5500.
